The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has said that Moscow’s ammunition expenditure has “practically halved” due to Ukraine’s intensified strikes deep within Russian territory.

In recent weeks, Ukraine has upped the intensity of drone and missile attacks on Russian industrial facilities as part of a campaign to undermine production capacity.

“For several months now, the artillery ammunition expenditure rates in the Russian army have practically halved. If previously the figure reached up to 40,000 rounds per day, it is now significantly lower,” Oleksandr Syrskyi told the Ukrainian daily news service, TSN, on Sunday when asked about the impact of Ukrainian attacks.

He added that Ukrainian strikes included “industrial enterprises that produce ammunition, missile parts or dual-use products are targeted for destruction.”

Since the start of the war, Ukraine has stepped up its weapons production and increased it threefold. From using less than 10% of its own weapons to using 33-34% of its home-grown weapons annually.

According to Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, Ukraine intends to spend a record $35 billion on weapons production in 2025, of which $17 billion will be provided by Ukraine.
